Question:
GH Traditions??

Is any one else a little saddened that they won't be doing a Christmas reading at the hospital on GH this year? For us long time fans this was ALWAYS a point where some sentimental moments would happen. The writers forget about the long term viewers to quickly!

It is just another example of how Guza and Frons are ruining this show. The deaths of great legacies characters like Emily and Georgie not to mention Tony and Alan, the wasted potential of legacies such as Cooper Barrett. The writing off of Dillion and Ned. The destruction of the character of Lucky and on and on it goes.

I understand the theory that Soaps want younger viewers but that seems to be short sighted in a world where the average age keeps rising, I would think they would want to appeal to us late era Baby Boomers who grew up with the show and became fans when Luke and Laura were first on the run.

The end of the Christmas story is just plane sad. I remember as a kid sitting with my Grandmother and watching Steve Hardy read the tale. It was actually one of our families Christmas Traditions. I know that Alan is now dead and gone as is poor forgotten Steve, but couldn't Noah or even Monica or Bobbie or Mac or Edward have read the story? I think that john Inge as Edward would have done an awesome job reading the tale and then breaking down as it has been such a bad year for him.

That is sort of sad. I have watched g.h. since Dr. hardy was in it. And they always read the Christmas story. Why are they stopping this too. It seems that the old traditions of G.H. are slowly died. And pretty soon there is not going to be a general hospital any more if the producer and the writers don't start waking up. And start giving the fans and the viewers what they want. Instead of cutting favorite characters out just to save a Nicol or a time or a dollar. With out the viewers or the fans there wouldn't be G.H.

Yeah, it sucks.

At least the Quartermaines still had pizza on Thanksgiving.

EDIT: The Nurse's Ball was nice while it lasted (anyone remember Amber Tamlyn dancing with her real-life father?), but with Lucy and Katherine gone, it would have had to be turned over to someone else. And I have to think the production costs and time dedication had to be pretty big for what was essentially 1 episode that often had little to do with the surrounding story (although one year, with a Port Charles crossover, I believe someone was hanged onstage.) Ah, the good old days.

Yes, I always loved hearing it every year, first by Dr.Hardy and then by Dr. Alan Quartermaine. They have done away with a lot of traditions that I miss. Remember the annual nurses ball? So fun!

I have to agree with Thomas, Monica or Edward would be a great choice to carry on this wonderful tradition. I am really sad that they wont be reading the christmas story.

I will miss the reading. That would be a great story if Patrick read it.
