Could they ever be portrayed as gentle but addled spinsters? I'm thinking that Ruth's threat to try to use her TV lawyer talents to sue anyone who doesn't like her may be more of a task than her depleted funds amassed as a middling Tennessee lawyer might accommodate. What do the writers have in mind with Ruth's latest Quixotic adventure?
While Robin is continually portrayed on the soap as a spendthrift and an unsatisfied housewife, could she ever be shown to have any redeeming qualities?
Is there a strictly non-Republican type liaison between Ruth and Robin looming in the creators' minds? I don't want to watch that scene but it could be used by the writers to morph them into more pleasant characters.
