It says in the first episodes she burned in a church, like in the scene that Stefan and Damon were talking about it in the football field at night. But, it showed another scene of Katherine getting chained up and taken away in a horse carriage. Like, she had a muzzle on her mouth and then Stefan and Damon were both shot when they tried to save her, and then they turned into Vampires. How did the story really go, and how did Katherine actually die?

Katherine Pierce was turned into a Vampire shortly after giving birth to a daughter, 500 years ago. When she came to Mystic Falls and the founding families discovered the Vampires living among them, they decided to round them up and entombed them in a church where they remained until the first season of the show. Katherine had compelled someone to rescue her and she left Mystic Falls, while the Damon and Stefan thought she was in tomb also when Bonnie did the spell and she wasn't there.

Katherine is still alive. But i don't want to spoil the show since you're just starting but she didn't die in the tomb or a fire.

She didn't die she all the vampires that we're in the church got put in a tomb under the church and is they never died but Katharine was never in the church some how got away and never was in the church you find out more about this in flashbacks it sound like you are only on the first season so I won't tell you about all the time u think she dead but she not she is still alive in the newest episode of vampire diaries

She was never in the tomb. She didn't die. She made a deal with a Lockwood for her release in exchange for the moonstone. That is how she got away and how she knew that the Lockwood's had the moonstone.
